Early breakfast and then we will have a short car ride to reach Villa Marshes (Pantanos de Villa) an excellent place to start our birding trip, after this wetland well have another drive to reach Pucusana fishing port for our boat trip to get some Sea Bird species and the famous Humbolt Penguins. Then we will have lunch at a local restaurant to then drive straight to the airport for our flight to Cusco.
Target Birds Species: The Endemic Sea Sided Cinclodes plus Humbolt Penguin. Some more birds like Many-Colored Rush-Tyrant, Wren-like Rushbird, Great Grebe, Yellow-Hooded Blackbird, Inca Tern, Peruvian Booby, Peruvian Pelican, Peruvian Pipit, Guanay and Red-legged Cormorants, Blackish Oystercatcher, Amazilia Hummingbird and many more.
Overnight at Cusco.
Another early breakfast and we will drive for 25 minutes to Poroy Train Station for our 03 hours train ride to get to Aguas Calientes Town. Once there you will get your accommodations and lunch. After that, we go for some birding along the Urubamba River, before dusk.
Target Birds Species: Collared Inca, Andean Motmot, Torrent Duck, Torrent Tyrannulet, Ashy Headed Tyrannulet, Sclater’s Tyrannulet, Fasciated Tiger-Heron, White Bellied Hummingbird, Tropical Parula, Variable Antshrike, Russet Crowned Warbler, Mottled Cheeked Tyrannulet and more.
Overnight at Aguas Calientes
Early breakfast to visit the well known MACHU PICCHU CITADEL, after driving for 20 minutes to the main gate. Once up there, we have plenty of time to Bird around and enjoy the beautiful MACHU PICCHU.
Target Birds Species:The Endemics Inca Wren & Green and White Hummingbird. Some others like Highland Elaenia, Capped Conebill, Spectacled Redstart, Blue and Black Tanager, Blue-capped Tanager, Rust and Yellow Tanager, Golden-naped Tanager, Saffron-crowned Tanager, Silver-Backed Tanager, Versicolored Barbet, Oleaginous Hemispingus, Golden-Crowned Flycatcher, Marble-faced Bristle-Tyrant, Mottle-cheeked Tyrannulet, Streak-Necked Flycatcher, Common Tody-Flycatcher and others.
Overnight at Ollantaytambo
Another early breakfast to then go to the upper road to Abra Malaga Pass (Polylepis Forest) at 4600m and Carrizales (Chusquea Bamboo) for some mixed flocks, Puna Specialist and extra Endemic Species. We will spend full morning along those birding location, then we will head back to Ollantaytambo for lunch to then drive to Cusco with the chance to explore Huaypo Andean Lake on the way. We will arrive in Cusco Hotel late in the afternoon.
Target Birds Species: The Endemics White-Tufted Sunbeam, Junin Canastero, White Browed Tit-Spinetail & The rare Royal Cinclodes. Thick-billed Siskin, Andean Goose, Mountain Caracara, Cinnamon Flycatcher, White-winged Diuca Finch, Andean Lapwing, Black Faced Ibis, Variable Hawk, Cordilleran Canastero, Puna Tapaculo, Pale-footed Swallow, Rufous Antpitta, Plumbeous Sierra finch and more.
Overnight at Cusco
Breakfast and we will start our birding adventure into Manu Road. We will drive for 25 minutes South of Cusco to reach Huacarpay Lake; this natural Andean Marsh provides great chances for our target species. We will spend some time birding along the road surrounding the lake and then we will drive up the mountains with good birding stops on the way. We will try to get Paucartambo Village for lunch, Then we will drive the upper road to Acjanaco Pass where Manu National Park begins; after the Pass, our birding time will be more enjoyable getting mixed flocks and other families. We will arrive late in the afternoon to our first lodge along the Manu Road.
Target Birds Species: The Endemics Bearded Mountaineer and Rusty Fronted Canastero. Some more uncommon bird like Streak-fronted Thornbird, White Crested Elaenia, Andean Tinamou, Bare Face Ground Dove, Giant Hummingbird, Andean Negrito, Puna Teal, Black Tailed Trainbearer, Eared Dove, Cinereous Conebill and more.
Overnight at Cock of the Rock Lodge
Early start to visit the Famous Cock of the Rock Leck to photograph our Peru’s National Bird (Cock of the Rock ). Along Manu Road, we can also get some more birds as we head back for breakfast to the Lodge. Then we have some time to identify the number of Hummingbirds that visit the Feeders right by the dining room and also visit some of the Trails by the lodge for some birds that inhabit the place and are frequently seen.
Tropical Birds Species: The Endemic Cerulean Capped Manakin. Some more birds like Yungas Manakin, Chesnut Breasted Wren, Crested Quetzal, Green Jay, Yellow-billed Cacique, Streak Headed Antbird, Slaty Backed Nightingale-Thrush, Spotted Nightingale-Thrush, White Backed Fireeyes, Slaty Tanager, Golden Tanager and more.
Overnight at Cock of the Rock Lodge
Our last morning at the lodge, we will bird the lodge’s trails for some species we could have missed, so we move by the trails in order to get the target birds around this bamboo area and search for the colorful Crested Quetzal; then we will go back to the lodge for lunch and get ready for our next adventure into the Hilly Forest.
Tropical Birds Species: The endemic Black-backed Tody-Flycatcher, Crested Oropendola, Razor Billed Curassow, Yellow Crested Tanager, Cinnamon Faced Tyarannulet, Golden-bellied Grossbeak, Southern Lapwing, Long Tailed Tyrant, Plumbeous Kite, Blue-Necked Tanager, Dusky Headed Parakeet, Scaly Breasted Wren, Palm Tanager, Yellow Throated Bush Tanager and more.
Overnight at Villa Carmen Station
Having this full day give us the chance to move by different ecosystems, like Second Growth, River Edge Forest, Riparian Forest and the special Bamboo Forest.
A place with great Bird Variety and good Hummingbirds visiting the garden flowers. nice view of Tono River for Macaws spotting such us Blue and Yellow and the Rare Blue Headed Macaw. A nice roosting area close to the lodge to see hundreds of different Oropendolas and Blackbirds.
Tropical Birds Species: Rufous Capped Nunlet, Cabanis Spinetail, Violaceous Trogon, Black Banded Woodcreeper, Blue Headed Parrot, Manu Antbird, Slate Colored Seedeater, Black Faced Antthrush, Rufous Motmot, Common Pauraque, Swallow Tanager, Plain Crowned Spinetail, Pale Legged Hornero, Gray Cowled Wood Rail, Crimson Crested Woodpecker and more.

Early breakfast to then take the car back to the mountains along the Famous Manu Road for our Andean Bird Species like Fruit Eaters, Hemispingus, Woodpeckers, Cotingas, Antpittas and others.
Andean Birds Species: The Endemics Parodi’s Hemispingus, Marcapata Spinetail & Red and White Antpitta. Some more birds like Trilling Tapaculo, Band-Tailed Fruiteater, Rufous Capped ThornbillSierran Elaenia, Rufous Capped Thornbill, White Throated Hawk, Black Throated Tody-Tyrant, Crimson Mantled Woodpecker, Rust and Yellow Tanager, Grass Green Tanager, Tyrian Metaltail, Slaty Backed Chat-Tyrant, Fawn Breasted Tanager, Chesnut Crested Cotinga, Gray Breasted Mountain Toucan, Diademed Tapaculo and more.
Overnight at Wayqecha Station
Our last morning birding for some species we could have missed the day before and after that slowly heading back to Cusco.
