These birds inhabit its diverse ecosystems, from the desert coast (pelicans, gulls) to the Andes (Andean condor, antpitta) and the Amazon (Andean cock-of-the-rock, hummingbirds), making it a key destination for birdwatching and home to many migratory and threatened species.

On the last tour organized by South Birding Peru, we observed 264 species of birds endemic to the highlands and rainforests of Peru. The tour lasted 10 days and was reported on eBird.

good time with lodges, local towns, people, markets, river otters, monkeys, hoatzins and a big surprise was a Jaguar hunting capibara in front of us.
