While spending 06 days along this bird tour you will be able to catch the most wanted birds along Manu road and  the birds that move around each lodge, this designed 06 days bird tour will increase your manu birding experience since along this trip you can also enjoy a nice boat ride along the famous madre de dios river and at the same time visit a beautiful lagoon with the interesting nice looking bird hoatzin and capibaras. Great mixture of high elevation birds, monkeys, river and swamp birds together with great local culture.

DAY 1 cusco – Huacarpay Lake (3100) – Huambutio – Wayqecha lodge (2900m)

A member of our team will pick you up from any location( hotel, bus station, lodge, etc) in Cusco and We beging with Our Manu birding experience by having a great bird stop at Huacarpay lake where We can catch some specialties there like the endemic Rusty Fronted Canastero, some others like Puna Teal, Streak Fronted Thornbill, Green Tailed Trainbearer, Yelllow Billed Teal, Many Colored Rush Tyrant, White Crested Elaenia, Band Tailed Seedeater, Hooded Siskin, Giant Hummingbird, Andean Duck, White Tufted Grebe, Andean Gull, Greenish Yellowfinch and more. Right after this lake visit We then move to Huambutio bird spot for the endemic Hummingbird Bearded Mountaineer and Chesnut Breasted Mountain Finch, other birds around this spot are Peruvian Sierra finch, Tufted Tit Tyrant, Spot Winged Pigeon, Andean Prakeet, Black Throated Flowerpiercer, Blue and Yellow Tanager and more. We continue with manu road and our next stop it would be to look for the uncommon Andean Ibis and other birds along the Paramos to finally arrive to Manu park main gate called Acjanacco, this área has a beatiful view of the whole manu road where We can also get more endemics like Creamy Crested Canastero, Brown Backed Chat Tyrant, Paramo Seedeater, Grass Wren, and others. From this spot ahead We can catch some more Manu specialties and mixed bird species flocks until We arrive to our lodge and after good dinner We can try for for owls like White Throated screech Owl, Rufous Banded Owl, Band Winged Nightjar and the uncommon Swallow Tailed Nightjar.

DAY 2  Wayqecha lodge – Canopy Walkway – Cock of the rock lodge (1100m)

Early breakfast to bird the main manu road and get the wanted birds like the endemics Parodi’s Hemispingus, Urubamba Antpitta & Red and White Antpitta. More manu birds at high elevation would be Puna Thistletail, Crowned Chat Tyrant, Golden Collared Tanager, Trilling Tapaculo, Hooded Mountain Tanager, Gould’s Inca, Diademed Tapaculo, Plushcap, Yellow Billed Cacique, Fulvous Wren, Black Throated Tody Tyrant, Tyrannine Woodcreeper and many more. A quick visit to the Canopy walkway to try for some forest birds and experience this nice hanging bridge.

Right after this We continue with the lower part and look for Chesnut Breasted Mountain Toucan, The endemic Marcapata Spinetail, Chesnut Crested Cotinga, Barred and Band Tailed Fruiteater, Andean Solitaire, Golden Headed Quetzal, Handsome Flycatcher, the endemic Inca Flycatcher, Chesnut bellied Mountain Tanager, Short Billed Chlorospingus, the colorful Versicolored Barbet, Ochre Faced Tody Flycatcher and many more. Once at Our next lodge w ego out again for owling and try for Rufescent Screech Owl and Band Bellied Owl.

DAY 3 Cock of the rock lodge- Forest Trails – Garden Feeders – Guadalupe lodge

Another early breakfast to search for the lower manu road specialties such as Yungas Manakin, The endemics Cerulean Manakin & Peruvian Piedtail. More birds along the road like Paradise Tanager, Yellow Breasted Antwren, Western Fire eye, Peruvian Warbling Antbird, Chesnut Backed Antshrike, Rufous Booted Racket-tail, Bolivian Tyrannulet, Spotted Tanager, Deed Blue Flowerpiercer, Cinnamon Faced Tyannulet, Ornate Flycatcher, Olive Backed Woodcreeper, Fulvous Breated Flatbill, Marble Faced Bristle Tyrant, White Crowned Tapaculo, Golden Collared honeycreeper, Russet Antshrihe, Spotted Barbtail, Rufous Breasted Wood Quail, Ash Browed Spinetail, Crested Quetzal, Wire Crested Thorntail, Many Spotted Hummingbird, Slaty Gnateater and many more birds combined between the main road and forest trails.

Keep birding the great manu bird tours at manu road lower part until Guadalupe Lodge where We can catch some other Bamboo specialties like Two Banded Warbler, Fiery Capped Manakin, Rufous Breasted Piculet and many second growth birds like Mottled Backed Elaenia, Long Tailed Tyrant, Lineated Woodpecker, Chesnut Bellied Seedfinch, Solitary Black Cacique, Swallow Tanager, Gray Capped Flycatcher, Bare Necked Fruitcrow, Magpie Tanager and some macaws like Blue and Yellow, Blue Headed Macaw and some Parrots like Blue Headed, Mealy Parrot and Little Parrakeets like White Eyed and dusky headed Parakeet. A night walk at the lodge for Common Potto, Great Potto, Band Bellied Owl, Ladder Tailed Nightjar.

DAY 4 Guadalupe Lodge full day – Gadua Bamboo – Mauritia Palm Forest

Having a full day here surrounded by hilly forest, Gadua Bamboo and nice second growth, this lodge has incredible bird variety with Gadua bird specialties, Hilly forest birds and the numbers of birds that move around clearing left by the local population.

Here We can try for good birds like Dusky Cheecked Foliage Gleaner, White Cheecked Tody Flycatcher, Ornate Stipplethroat, Hairy Crested Antbird, Rufous Motmot, Western Striolated Puffbird, Bamboo Antshrike, Manu Antbird, Large Heade Flatbill, Wedge Billed Woodcreeper, Black Faced Antbird, McConnel’s Flycatcher, Amazon Kingfisher, Little Ground Tyrant, Yellow Crowned Tyrannulet, Plum Throated Cotinga, Black Antbird, Flammulated Tody Tyrant, Striated Antbird, Point Tailed Palmcreeper, Orange Breasted Falcon, Black Throated Antbird, Black and White hawk Eagle, Johane’s Tody Tyrant, Sulphury Flycatcher and the endemic Black Back tody Flycatcher. Beautiful day spent around this property and the nice road that goes parallel to Guadalupe river will also give us extra birds that will increase Our bird list.

DAY 5 Guadalupe Lodge full day – Gadua Bamboo – Mauritia Palm Forest

An early departure to visit a local Hummmingbird feeders station where we have the chance to increase Our hummingbird list with Rufous Crested Coquette, Golden Tailed Sapphire, Long Billed Starthroat, Gould’s Jewelfront, Blue Tailed Emerald, Gray Breasted Sabrewing, Fork Tailed Woodnymph, White Necked Jacobin, Great Billed Hermit and Scarlet Hooded Barbet that visit the feeders.

Right after this visit We then move to Atalaya River port where We take Our first motor boat to navigate the upper part of Madre De Dios River and have another great birding time at Machuwasi lagoon where We can get some swamp bird specialties like Pale Eyed Blackbird, Orange Backed Troupial, Hoatzin, Rufous Sided Crake, Green Kingfisher, Thick Billed Seedfinch, Limpkin, Horned Screamer, Rufescent Tiger Heron, Purple Gallinue, Bran Colored Flycatcher, Sunbittern, Black Capped Donacobius, Blackish Rail, Royal Flycatcher and many more birds that We can catch along the trails like White Lined Antshrike, Buff Throated Woodcreeper, Drab Water Tyrant, Black Banded Swallow, Chesnut Fronted Macaw, Riparian Antbird, Pied Lapwing, Black Caracara, Crested Caracara, Collared Plover, Black Hawk Eagle, Fasciated Tiger Heron, Sand Colored Nighthhawk and many more birds. Later that day We try for some owl by the lodge with Tawny Bellied Screech Owl, Mottle Owl, Feruginous Pygmy Owl, Spectacled Owl and Ocellated Poorwill.

DAY 6 Eco manu lodge (460m) – Back to cusco
