TAMBOPATA NATURE LOVERS

Big lunch a nice break before we jump to the next jungle activity into Tambopata rainforest, this time we go for a very special jungle walk of 02 hours to end up at the mammal clay lick. This place give you chances for bigger animals like Tapir, deers, wild pigs, Bush turkeys or monkeys. Animals that visit this place in order to eat clay and balance their every day diet. After this visit and time around this unique spot, we start walking back with flashlight to look and have more chances of other night time animals until dinner.

DAY 01.- PUERTO MALDONADO TOWN – TAMBOPATA LODGE -TAMBOPATA RIVER – JUNGLE WALKING – NIGHT WALK

We pick you up from the airport or any direction you give us around Puerto Maldonado. Then we go for 1:30 minutes car drive along the main highway and a bit of a dirt road until we get to Tambopata river, then we go for extra 15 minutes to finally arrive to our lodge where we spend the first 02 nights. Once here and after a lovely lunch we go for a nice jungle walk to learn about Tambopata rainforest and find animals such as monkeys and others. This afternoon we also visit a nice tower into the forest with a great view over 50 meters that give you a great genral view of our amazing Tambopata national reserve, this is a good spot for Tambopata pictures and the beautiful sunset. Once jungle gets dark we then start walking back to the lodge with flashlight and look for night time creatures such as Tree snakes, tree frogs, Tarantulas, night monkeys and experience the jungle at night before dinner.

DAY 02.- VISIT TO THE BIGGEST MACAW CLAY LICK AT TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE – LONG JUNGLE WALK TO THE MAMMAL CLAY LICK – EXTRA JUNGLE NIGHT WALK

Early start to navigate the amazing Tambopata river and look for the great sunrise as we travel this beautiful river. Along this river we have great chances for the famous Capibaras and the largest cat in south america, Jaguar. Along Tambopata river we can also see turtles, river hawks, herons, kingfishers and with a lucky day the biggest amazon mammal, Tapir. At our arrival at this bird spot, we just wait to see great numbers of parrots, macaws, parakeets and other birds that gather to eat clay, being this part of their mandatory diet. Great place to photograph macaws flying and see how noisy and loud they can be in nature, then after this natural show we have our breakfast facing the majestic forest of Tambopata region and reserve. On the way back we also have one more chance to look for animals by the river since we take the boat back to the lodge and having sunny days as usual we can see classic turtle lying along branches by the river or just more capibaras and wáter birds.

 DAY 3.- BACK TO PUERTO MALDONADO – TAMBOPATA RESERVE & SANDOVAL LAKE LODGE – GIANT RIVER OTTERS SEARCH – CAIMANS SPOTTING NIGHT

Last breakfast at this corner to then take the car back to town and spend more time at Tambopata national reserve. This time we will be walking into the reserve plus spending the nights into the famous Tambopata national reserve, here we also have the best chance for monkeys, the best for Caimans and the best for Giant river otters. The cool part into the reserve is the canoes we take to move around the lake, the boats or canoes are powered by paddles making not noisy or impact at this beautiful lake. Here we also have a beautiful lodge with great view to the lake and Good food, our first day will be searching the famous giant river otters and Caimans plus the beautiful sunset.

 DAY 4.- SANDOVAL LAKE LODGE – JUNGLE WALK INTO TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE & MORE CANOE FOR ANIMAL SPOTTING AROUND THE LAKE.

Our second day at this great national reserve we can also walk to see the different type of forest that surround this lake and see the giant ceiba trees or just the amazing roots at the great number of ficus trees. Of course before breakfast you can not forget about the amazing view of the sunrise at this lake and spend more time by canoe looking for more wáter birds like the unique and special Hoatzin, known as the prehistoric bird. The area around is also the best spot for the biggest spiders in the worl, the famous Tarantulas. Something that we can see around the lodge!

 DAY 5: SANDOVAL LAKE LODGE – SUNRISE AT THE LAKE – LAST CANOE FOR ANIMALS SPOTTING & BACK TO TOWN

Last party at the lake and canoe ride for sunrise and animals. Last breakfast and lunch to say good bye to this beatiful lodge and lake, then we head back to town for your flight. Of course between breakfast and lunch we target the canoe and the animals that live around the lake for our last wildlife potos.
