ABRA MALAGA BIRDING

DAY 1 CUSCO – OLLANTAYTAMBO – ABRA MALAGA BIRDING

We pick you up from your hotel in Cusco or Ollantaytambo Town to start our birding adventure into Abra Malaga Pass located at 4600m. Ollantaytambo Town has also some good birds around that we can catch on the way as we head to Abra Malaga. We know some good spots for cool birds and Endemics as well. Once we reach Abra Malaga we move around in order to bird Polilepys Forest and Paramo Forest, plus some bogs high in the Andes. This area has some really good birds and at the same time a very nice landscape for photography. Lunch will be taken somewhere with a nice view for you. Then we will be coming back later that day to Ollantaytambo Town for dinner and sleep. Overnight at Ollantaytambo
TARGET BIRDS
The rare Royal Cinclodes and the Endemics like White Browed Tit-Spinetail, White Tufted Sumbean, Junin Canastero, Creamy Crested Spinetail, and the very Localized Ash Breasted Tit-Tyrant. Some more like Black Faced Ibis, Giant Conebill, Puna Tapaculo, Striped Headed Antpitta, Tackzanowsky Ground Tyrant, Cordilleran Canastero, Junin Canastero, Line-fronted Canastero, Blue-Mantled Thornbill, and many more.

DAY 2 PEÑAS – CARRIZALES – CHUSQUEA BAMBOO

Our second day would be over Abra Malaga Pass descending to 2700m. This area is covered with interesting vegetation and Chusquea Bamboo Forest where we can get special Target Birds. We spend the whole day along the road and lunch will be taken in one of the local restaurants found along this area. Later that day we come back straight to Cusco. END OF OUR SERVICES
TARGET BIRDS
The Endemics Unstreaked Tit-Tyrant, Parodi’s Hemispingus plus Red and White Antpitta. Marcapata Spinetailt, Cuzco Brush-Finch, Some more uncommon birds like Imperial Snipe, Undulated Antpitta, Rusty Breasted Antpitta, Trilling Tapaculo, Lacrimose Tanager, Pearled Treeruner, Highland Elaenia, Yellow-Billed Caciqueand many more.

This bird tour wil give you very nice & range restricted birds.

A physical required walk is given at this bird tour since you will be birding from 3000m to over 4200m.

Here you have nice protected forest for rare bird species like Royal Cinclodes, Ash-breasted tit-tyrant, White-browed tit-spinetail, Tawny tit-spinetail, Puna Tapaculo, Junin Canastero and many more.
