ABRA MALAGA BIRDING spot is without any doubt a mandatory visit along southern Peru. Here you can bird from 2800m up to 4200m. along this nice birdy road you can start with some local farms around and scrub forest that eventually give you some endemic birds, then by the time you go higher the bird scenary changes and give you nice paramo forest with rocky landscape, finally after getting more birds around these habitats you finally get the to the famous polilepys forest that requires a birdy walk to get the famous Royal cinclodes and others. Right after this birdwatching morning you still have your last birdy habitat at the other side of Abra malaga where you finish your day birdwatching chusquea bamboo birds.

FULL DAY
This birdwatching day begins from Cusco city or Ollantaytambo town where we pick you up at 4:30am to then visit our first birding spot known as Piuray lagoon for some wáter birds, around this bird spot we can get Puna Ibis, Yellow billed teal, Puna pipit, Andean duck, Andean gull, White tufted grebe and many others. Then we keep moving to finally arrive to Quillabamba road where we start getting some endemics like White tufted sunbeam, Scaled metaltail, Great sapphirewing, Chesnut Breasted mountain finch and others. Our main morning will be spent at Polilepys forest for the great target Royal cinclodes and the other polilepys specialties such as Tit spinetail, White browed tit spinetail, Thick billed siskin, Ash breasted tit tyrant and many others. We end up this birdwatching day with our last birding area, this time the famous chusquea bamboo forest for some other bird targets like Unstreaked tit tyrant, Parodi’s hemispingus, Cuzco brushfinch, Inca wren, Marcapata spinetail and many others.
This bird tour wil give you very nice & range restricted birds.
A physical required walk is given at this bird tour since you will be birding from 3000m to over 4200m.
Here you have nice protected forest for rare bird species like Royal Cinclodes, Ash-breasted tit-tyrant, White-browed tit-spinetail, Tawny tit-spinetail, Puna Tapaculo, Junin Canastero and many more.
