ITINERARY

DAY 1 CUSCO – SORAYPAMPA ROAD – CHONTA VILLAGE

We pick you up from your hotel early in the morning to then drive for at least 1 ½ hour to Our first bird spot. This morning trip will give Us the best of Sub Tropical bird species and the best of Apurimac Valley. After getting the bird species of Soraypampa Road then We start moving to Our second bird spot for some other specialties and the special Andean Condor

TARGET BIRDS

The endemics Apurimac Brush Finch, Apurimac Spinetail, the rare and localize Vilcabamba Tapaculo, Creamy Crested Spinetail and the recent Split to become specie White Tailed Canastero. Some others like Andean Emerald, Aplomado falcon, White Eared Puffbird, White Winged Black Tyrant, and many more. Overnight at Cusco Town

DAY 2 CUSCO – OLLANTAYTAMBO – ABRA MALAGA

Early drive from Cusco to this special bird site where we have the chance to get many endemics and range-restricted Birds. We take the car and we drive to our first bird spot at 4200m. with very nice hábitat and birds. Along this day tour We will see different habitats like paramo, puna bogs and the famous Polylepis Forest

TARGET BIRDS

The rare and localized Royal Cinclodes, the endemics White Browed Tit Spinetail White Tufted Sunbeam, Chesnut Breasted Mountain Finch and Junin Canastero. Some other specialties of this forest is Tawny Tit Spinetail, Ash Breasted Tit Tyrant, Puna Tapaculo, Cordilleran Canastero,Thick billed Siskin, Tick Like Dacnis, Black Throated Flowerpiercer, Giant Conebill and many others. Yellow Billed Pintail, Yellow-Billed Teal, and many others.

DAY 3 OLLANTAYTAMBO – QUILLABAMBA ROAD – CHUSQUEA BAMBOO

An early departure to move along Quillabamba Road and have some stops on the way for Chusquea Bamboo specialties and Paramo forest. Along this beautiful road we have good bird stops with very beautiful landscapes. We will be birding the whole day and meals will be taken on the field

TARGET BIRDS

The endemics, Unstreaked Tit Tyrant, Marcapata Spinetail, Parodi’s Hemispingus, Cusco Brush Finch and Inca Wren. Others like Plushcap, Gray Browed Brush Finch, Sword Billed Hummingbird, Black Backed Grosbeak, Paramo Pipit, Crested Duck, Paramo Seedeater, Puna Thistletail, Sapphire Vented Puffleg and many more

DAY 4 .- OLLANTAYTAMBO – CUSCO – ENSIFERA CAMP – HUACARPAY LAKE

We drive back to Cusco bu ton the way we have a nice aand short stop at this local feeder station where we can get extra birds and endemics. Then we continue with our driving until we reach Huacarpay Lake for some other birds located justa round this beautiful área.

The Endemics Bearded Mountaineer, Green and White Hummingbird and Rusty Fronted Canastero plus some others like Streak Fronted Thornbird, White Crested elaenia, Crested Becard, Andean Parakeets, Green Tailed Trainbearer, Many Colored Rush Tyrant, Wren Like Rushbird, Yellow Winged Blackbird, Yellow Billed Pintail, Yellow Billed Teal and many others

Along this short but intense Bird tour We also added some other great Bird Spots like Abra Malaga with very special and Range restricted bird species plus a beautiful Huacarpay lake where you can add some more endemic birds. Birding activity will be running from 3200m to over 4200m at some points. Bird walks and being fit is required along this tour since some bird spots requires distance walks.
