NORTHERN BIRDING PERU
DAY 1 CHICLAYO CITY- CHAPARRI LODGE – RAFAN
Early start to bird the best birding spots along with this exclusive dry habitat along the Northern Coast. We first start with the Chaparri area where we have a good number of birds that inhabit this special oasis, types of birds that are endemic to Peru or just shared with Ecuador. Then we continue along this bird day with RAFAN, another good bird spot with unique birds and habitat.

DAY 2 CHICLAYO – ABRA PORCULLA – BOSQUE YANAHUANCA – JAEN CIUDAD
We will have an early departure to continue with our northern birding tour and this time we will start heading to the northern amazon, driving over the lowest mountain chain to finally arrive at Yanahuanca forest in Jaen City. Very good bird stops along this route with many specialties, beautiful landscapes, and endemic birds.

DAY 3 JAEN – HUEMBO LODGE – POMACOCHAS
Another early morning to keep moving into the Northern Jungle, many birds stop along with this beautiful road and very good birds too. Our birding car will always stay with us giving us better chances to move when needed and this way allowing us to get the best birds at the proper places.

DAY 4 .- OMACOCHAS – SAN LORENZO CAMINO – FUNDO ALTO NIEVA
Today is considered a challenging day since We will be moving on the east side of the northern Andes, walking uphill over 2500m and this bird walk can be tiring but worth it. Very cool view as you walk plus the birds you can get along this particular trail.

DAY 5 FUNDO ALTO NIEVA & ALREDEDORES
A pretty full day here, shooting hummingbirds at the hummer feeders and visiting the Antpitta Feeding spots. This specially protected area has beautiful and endemic birds that can be easily spotted by staying at this property. Well maintained trail system with all the basic services to spend the night.

Early departure to visit a small bird spot where we have the chance to shoot colorful hummingbirds and visit also a feeding station for tinamous. This first birding stop is one of the few but a good mandatory place for birders and nonbirders. Right after this visit we then end up in Moyobamba where we have another really good place for more hummingbirds and northern specialties.

DAY 7 MOYOBAMBA – MIRADOR – TARAPOTO – LIMA
Our last morning will be at Mirador of Moyobamba city, a perfect place with a very nice birding view, over the Mayo River. This birding spot will give us great chance for the endemic Monkey species of the San Martin Region, plus very good birds that frequently move around this area. After a nice birdy morning and good lunch, we then head to Tarapoto airport for our afternoon flight to Lima.

OUR FIRST BIRD VISIT WILL BE AT CHAPARRI PRIVATE RESERVE ALONG THE PACIFIC COAST WHERE WE CAN CATCH ALL THE DRY TUMBES SPECIALTIES TO THEN GO FOR THE STAR OF THE NORTHERN BIRD TOUR, THE MAJESTIC HUMMINGBIRD MARVELEOUS SPATULETAIL AND MANY OTHERS.
